Our Daily Routine
The School Day
The school day starts at 8.30am and ends at staggered times for the different age groups starting with the Nursery at 3.45pm. Early Bird Breakfast Club begins at 7.30am and is available at an extra charge to all children from Nursery to Year 2. The children are offered a cooked or continental breakfast alongside, toast, cereals, fruit and yoghurt. At 8.15am the children are accompanied to their classrooms to begin the day.
Assemblies
Each week we have four assemblies: one with a religious theme, one based on Personal Social Health Emotional and Economic education, one focussed on a country and one celebration assembly where we award Castle Certificates for progress and a Superstar of the Week in each class for academic work.
Meals and Snacks
All food is prepared on site and we enjoy a healthy range of snacks and fruit each morning and afternoon. Breakfast and Lunch are served in the school dining room. Staff serve the children and sit at a table of mixed ages to enjoy conversation and sharing of food in a family atmosphere. Each younger child has a lunch partner to help them walk to the dining room, cut up food and pour drinks.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
Clubs run from 4.00pm to 5.00pm and this term include Rugby, Art, Pottery, Cross Country, Relax Kids, French, Science and History Club. Each term a list of new clubs is sent home and children can choose which they attend for the term. Most of these are free of charge, however, for a few specialist classes, there is a small additional charge.
After School Club
After School Club runs from 3.45pm to 6.00pm each day.
There is an additional charge for each session attended. Sessions can be booked in advance or can be booked on the day that care is required. All the children who stay for After School Club enjoy a varied menu for tea and can then play, draw and colour, all under the watchful eye of qualified staff.
School Council
Our school council consists of two children from each class who are voted by their peers for a term. Together, they decide a strategy to improve our school or serve our community. Examples of achievements include raising money for charity, organising a school party, improving the environment in which we live and discussing menus with our school chef!
Superstar and Castles
Each child is placed in one of our three castles; Aydon, Warkworth and Dilston. Each class teacher in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 nominates children who have impressed with their work, behaviour and/or attitude. Castle Point Awards are also awarded for hard work, effort and conduct.
Each class teacher nominates a Superstar of the Week. An academic piece of work which has impressed them is displayed for a week in the school corridor.
