The project included installing flexible seating, new lighting, and a complete facelift for the theatre, creating an inspiring and multi-purpose venue. It highlights the overwhelming determination of our small rural community when it comes to development and fundraising, and the exceptional generosity of our parents, pupils and alumni.
The transformation of the Mowden Hall Theatre has already revolutionised the way we deliver the Arts, maintained and strengthened our sense of community and very importantly allowed Mowden Hall School to further collaborate with local communities. The Theatre has always been the Heart of the School, and was identified early on in the School Improvement Plan as a number one priority.
It is a facility that is central to our aim of building the confidence of our pupils. Music and Drama plays a crucial role in building confidence, teamwork, and communication skills in children. The newly refurbished space will allow the school to continue to promote public speaking and confidence, as well as provide opportunities for those more technical to learn to use state-of-the-art equipment. It will also help to boost social mobility in an area such as Northumberland where it is needed the most.
This new facility will benefit our greatest partnership, WISE Academies. The WISE Academies is a Multi-Academy Trust which incorporates a number of academies in the North-East of England. The Trust is a DfE approved charity that consists of both converter and sponsored academies. The Trust is dedicated to getting the best possible outcomes, ensuring that every pupil achieves their full potential within a rich learning environment.
Our partnership with WISE will include the sharing of best practice amongst our respective teaching staff, professional development opportunities for both communities, the setting up of departmental networks (SEND for example), Heads training, pupil leadership programmes and academic enrichment.
